Notes: So, because I lead a terrible life, leupagus and merelyn and I were watching H-5-O, and I was saying something about the sequel to the OTHER fic I wrote where I made Danny a girl, Mere goes, "Hey, you know what would be awesome? Girl!Steve/Girl!Danny hatesex." And I tipped my head to the side and went "Fuuuuuuuuuuuck," because I knew this was going to happen. It's not hatesex, though, so much as... sassy? I don't know. So, WHOLLY INDEPENDENT OF THAT OTHER TIME I MADE DANNY A GIRL, this fic.



Dani doesn't even know where to start.

"I'm Danielle Williams, the reservation is for a group of 4, at 7?" Danni sighs, subtly, shifting her weight from painfully high heel to heel. "Probably under McGarrett?" The maitre d’ looks equal parts resigned and disappointed, but leads her back to where Kono and Chin are already drinking offensively fruity drinks.

"She's late?" Dani asks, sort of amazed.

"She's sort of behind you," Steph says from still super high above Dani’s head. Dani can wear all the heels in the world, and Stephanie McGarrett will still be taller than her.

"I didn't know you knew how to be late," Dani snipes and Steph just stares at Dani with her stupidly pretty hazel eyes.

"I was in the bathroom. You're late." Steph replies flatly, one hand on her hip, slipping just a little on the smooth blue silk of her dress.

They'd managed to stumble their way through shutting down a major human/drug trafficking ring- Steph pushing grown men out of windows, the usual- and as thanks, the governor had gotten them reservations at some restaurant that caters to Oprah and Dakota Fanning, not cops, and Dani honestly would have been more comfortable with some pies and a weekend off.

But instead Dani is wearing a dress Robert had gotten her for some gala that she'd never made it to, busy running down mob hitmen, that is a half-size smaller than she remembers. She knows she's lost probably five pounds chasing after and worrying over Steph, so it's not her.

That being said, it's still a really nice dinner on the state's dime, so she can deal with being squeezed into an extremely silver dress her ex-husband bought her.

"Yeah, but I look good," Dani half-whines, because seriously, she did her hair and everything. Not everyone rolls out of bed and throws on the contents of an Eddie Bauer ad and looks recklessly hot and cool and God, Dani hates her.

"You clean up kind of nice," Steph says, and the once over she gives Dani is both insulting and sort of arousing.

Dani still hates her.

"Okay, lets get you a drink, Dani," Chin says cheerfully, before they can break out into another round of Shit My Boss Says, because Chin is a) a gentleman and b) the most tactful person Dani's ever met. Then again, Dani is from Jersey, so there's a lot of room for tact improvement here.

After the sadly standard pissing and moaning is over, dinner is surprisingly nice. Like, besides the fact that their waiter seems to think that Chin is possibly a pimp- which Kono thinks is hilarious, Steph could gives less of a fuck about and Dani sort of fumes over. It's probably deeply rooted in all the times her captain back home loaned her out to Vice to pull tricks.

"But like a nice prostitute- an escort," Chin tries, and Kono bursts into laughter again. Kono is one of those women who are supremely confident in their body and personality and Dani really tries to ascend to her zen plane, but nine times out of ten, falls miserably short. Strangely, unlike Steph, Dani doesn't really envy Kono- Kono is easy to like, easy to love.

Steph, on the other hand, is like her grandmother's cat. Dani spent hours of her life trying to coax that fucking cat out from under divans and chairs, and she still has a couple of scars to prove it. Which really, says so much about her and Steph and Dani's inability to temper her desires to reality.

And that's why she's surprised when she finds herself in Steph's house, Steph clawing at Dani's dress, looking for the ridiculous hidden zipper, kissing her wet and messy.

"Did I just have to buy you dinner? Are you seriously that old-fashioned?" Steph asks, hot and damp against Dani's neck and Dani gives in to the urge to pull Steph back up to her mouth, biting at her full lower lip.

"I'm a nice girl," Dani says with a shrug. "You island girls, eh." Dani eyes Steph's thin silk dress. Steph laughs, sharp and irresistible and Dani is so fucked, here.

"Wouldn't you like to find out how nice we can be?" Steph asks and well, yeah, yeah, she really would. Rather than attempting to say anything to that effect, Dani just goes for Steph's zipper, and because she's not an idiot, manages it on the first try. And then Steph is in front of her in the skimpiest strapless bra and panties Dani's ever seen and she narrows her eyes at Steph.

"You totally set this up," Dani accuses. Steph just gives her that look that usually comes before pretending she hasn't just broken the law in pursuit of a criminal. "Oh my god, you seduced me." Steph rolls her eyes.

"I wouldn't have had to, if you weren't so buttoned up," Steph complains, growling a little under her breath and pawing at the side of the dress, trying to find any sort of catch and Dani laughs suddenly.

"Just go ahead, rip it off," she offers. Steph stares at her.

"Are you serious?" Steph asks, and Dani nods, because Steph seduced her and she really didn't have to, and the whole thing is so ridiculous.

"I hate this dress. Do it." she says and Steph shrugs and holy shit, her dress is across the room. What do they teach you in Naval Intelligence school? Dani sort of abruptly remembers that she'd attempted to wear a bra and it hadn't really happened, because whatever, the dress was tight, and it's not like her tits are anything to write home about.

Which, apparently Steph disagrees with that assessment, because she's staring at Dani like they didn't just eat dinner and Dani feels like someone just ran a feather up her spine. She shivers and Steph drags her into the bedroom.

She'd like to pretend that there wasn't a lot of really juvenile groping, but seriously, Steph does have a rack worth writing home about, fuck, worth writing sonnets about and Dani can't help herself. She comes embarrassingly quickly when Steph fingerfucks her, fast and relentless and Dani is sort of unsurprised, but still gratified by how good the sex is- and also the noises Steph makes when Dani goes down on her. She's totally grateful for the bisexual "phase" she went through in college, because making Steph pant and whine under her is a trip and she's just shy of wanting to go again herself when Steph comes, loud and unashamed and Dani loves it.

"Nice, right?" Steph mumbles as she tugs Dani up to lay all over her, sort of sweaty and still amazing and Dani just snorts and maybe technically Steph gets the last word, but that's just because Dani falls asleep.

The next morning, Steph is draped enthusiastically on top of her and Dani waits to freak out, but Steph just sort of snorts herself awake, presses a chaste kiss to Dani's mouth and nakedly gets up, and well.
