I love girl!Dean and girl!Sam to pieces- I love trying to figure out what could have happened to them instead, what would that change about them- and, of course, what stays the same.

I'm glad you liked it! (And let us not lie, Sam tries to get Deanna to embrace her feminine agency. And also get tested. All valid, perfectly normal concerns. No slut shaming around Sam Winchester.)

He so does. I love this paragraph.

Remember back around the end of S3, when they leave Ruby in the devil's trap? Dean has been throwing 'bitch' around as usual, but I think it's the first time Sam calls Ruby that. He sounds like he's twelve years old and trying on big bro's boots, he's so tentative. I wish they'd let him keep his distaste for 'bitch' as the universal epithet for anything female that isn't doing what you want it to. It would have been fun to watch him suggesting gender-neutral alternative insults.
